Art, Pottery and Sculpture
Art imitating life is a common expression used to describe a artistic creation that is inspired by true events. It is a very pertinent phrase as much of art acts a record of its time and serves as a valuable historical tool in teaching us what a culture, a society was like at that time.

TASK
Your task will be three- fold:
Firstly you will design your own Ancient Greek vase using the template supplied to you.
Following this, you will then select one piece of artwork that you like then you will undertake a communicative inquiry (making judgements and asumptions and having them confirmed by looking at a primary source) on that work.
- Pottery, vases and sculptures act as valuable artefacts (primary resource) as they provide a snapshot of what life was like at the time. Depictions of war, mythology, the Olympics, triumph through courage and even elements of democracy.
Your task is to look at what has been left behind of this civilisation through art.
- You are to focus on 1 or 2 aspects or artworks/pottery and to disseminate their meaning. What are they talking about? What is their meaning? What is imprinted on these artworks/pottery? What message is being told by the culture? What judgements can you make from the artefacts?
Then lastly you will compile a collection of your favourite examples of Ancient Greek Art and design your own gallery through the Prezi program. In your gallery you will need to provide the details of the work (e.g.- title, artist, year and style), give a brief summary of the characteristics of the artwork and explain why this piece of art made it in to your gallery . Your gallery should contain 6 works.
- Your gallery can include paintings, pottery, vases and sculptures.
